Your skin is your body’s largest organ so it’s important to take care of it as we have it for life and it is what protects us from bacteria, sun, impurities etc. I’m going to share the main ways I give my skin a detox every few weeks:
Dry brushing is a fantastic way to get the blood flowing to your skin, it exfoliates the skin and unclogs pores and reduces cellulite! You should use a large flat round or square body brush. Do not wet your skin, start brushing in circular sweeping movements towards the heart (stroking away from the heart can cause ruptured vessels). Start at the feet and work your way up until you have done your whole body. Then shower/ bath as normal.
Clay masks are the go to for drawing out impurities. There is a wide range of clay masks available depending on your skin type and if you are wanting a face or body mask. I suggest doing a clay body mask every few weeks to draw out any toxins and clear the skin!
Another great way of detoxing the skin is to sweat it out! At least once a month I suggest hopping into your local sauna for 20-40 mins and letting all the impurities sweat out! It’s also a great way to lose some weight!! Remember to stay hydrated before, during and after the session!
There are a number of detox mositurisers on the market. Detox mositurisers detoxify and revitalise the skin by neutralizing pollutants that have accumulated all while keeping the skin hydrated. Keeping your skin mositurised helps not going when detoxing but as you age and as you expose your skin to the sun! Hydrate as much as possible !
Environmental pollutants and dirt from can clog your pores, and toxins from your diet can cause your complexion to suffer, that’s why it’s important to incorporate a regular (monthly) detox routine – your body and skin will love you for it! The above ways I have mentioned are ways I have detoxed I would advise to experiment and see what works and appeals to you! The above is not for everyone.
