Being a skincare fanatic I wanted to dedicate a post to one of my favourite ingredients in skincare – retinol.
I started using retinol products about 3 years ago and have learnt quite abit about the benefits and tried a variety of retinol products.
What is retinol?
Retinol is a vitamin A derivative that unclog pores, boosts collagen to reduce fine lines, and speeds cell turnover to even out discoloration and smooth the skin.
How to use retinol products?
Retinol mostly comes in serums and creams. It can be drying to sensitive skin so make sure to moisturise properly if you are using retinol products. Best to use at night so the full effects can process while you sleep.
Top 5 retinol products:
RoC Retinol Correction Deep Wrinkle Night Cream
This is the budget version of top quality retinol cream. Highly concentrated – anti drying and really effective night cream fades away lines and boosts skin collagen!
Medik8 Retinol 3 TR 15ml
This is the real deal. The purest and most active over-the counter form. Retinol 3 TR is designed to conveniently apply directly to the face without mixing.
Insta Natural Retinol Serum
My favourite out of the bunch because it’s not just filled with retinol but vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid and more and when mixed together your skin will love you for life. Brighter, plumper skin!
Skinstitute Retinol SerumThis would be a good product to use if you would like to try out retinol products and see how it affects your skin. The gel formula should be used twice a week to start with the alternate nights.
Dermalogica Overnight Retinol Repair
Although on the pricey side it includes a moisturising Buffer Cream to help acclimate skin to this highly-active form of Retinol, making it customisable for maximum results with minimum irritation.
